Following the controversy around India’s Got Latent and the heavy criticism faced by Samay Raina and the show, comedian Sunil Pal recently appeared on The Great Indian Kapil Show, where Samay Raina was also a guest.
‘Why don’t you brush your teeth?’: Samay Raina
During the episode, Samay Raina made several jokes at Sunil Pal’s expense, including a remark asking, “Why don’t you brush your teeth?” He also joked that he had learned abusive language from the comments section of Sunil Pal’s social media.
After clips from the show went viral, many viewers felt the jokes were disrespectful towards the senior comedian. However, Sunil Pal has now clarified that he holds no resentment over the remarks.
‘I don’t consider this an insult’: Sunil Pal
Dismissing claims of insult, Sunil Pal said in an interview given to Hindustan Times, ‘I don’t consider it an insult because it’s a comedy show and teasing happens in comedy shows. If someone comes forward, we won’t run to hit or cut them; there’s no such animosity.’
Further, Sunil Pal said, ‘People make jokes about each other. I made a punchline at him, and he did the same. If it were a serious subject or a serious show, we would have the right to complain. Even people like Shah Rukh Khan become the subject of jokes in such shows. So I have no complaints.’
Notably, recently, Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahabadia appeared on The Great Indian Kapil Show. Sunil Pal was also invited to a segment of the show. As soon as Sunil arrived, Kapil Sharma said, “Whenever he comes, he says, ‘I am Sunil Pal, the gem of comedy,’ and he calls Samay the terrorist of comedy. What kind of grenade have you seen him throwing from his mouth? Express some thoughts.”
On this, Sunil Pal said, ‘Kapil Bhai, it would have been better if they had thrown grenades from their mouth, but what they throw is unbearable. What is not understood is not accepted by society, and what is not accepted by society, isn’t that a terrorist?’
Responding, Samay said, ‘They have so many problems with me that what can I say, I throw grenades from my mouth, what should I say, tell me whatever the problem is.’
Samay further added, ‘I don’t perform at fairs, I talk nonsense. I have no problem with you, sir, there’s just one thing, why don’t you brush, man?’
After this, Sunil also responded in the same tone, saying that the era of brushing is gone, I have come after polishing.
